18th November 2024 – members of the chair announce their suggested topics or areas of studies for master thesis to the head of methodical commission (students can propose a topic for thesis by themselves in cooperation with the methodical commission)

27th - 31st January 2025 - introduction to the courses in the professional elective module, incl. professional training (internship) courses

27th - 31st January 2025 - instruction about the content and procedure for writing master thesis

2nd April 2025 - Deadline for submitting a status report for finding an internship position (type of office a student is looking for, preparatory activities done and steps to be taken in order to make contact with potential internship places) to be sent to Toomas Muru 

25th April 2025 - deadline for submitting student’s topic of master thesis with supervisor’s consent on an application form to Specialist of Academic Affairs (Lagle Lõhmus: [email protected])

29th May 2025 - development of thematic framework, review of core literature, preliminary methodological selection and description of the core structure of the thesis is sent to one’s supervisor (followed by the individual discussion with supervisor within the following week)

12th June 2025 - latest report to the head of methodical commission by the supervisors for approval of the methodology of the thesis (to register the credit points of Research methods course)

18th October 2024 - master thesis’ progress seminar with supervisors and chair members. Students to attend the whole session and coordinates time with supervisor.

25th October 2024 - Last call for the master thesis topic- in the exceptional circumstances that a student has not already registered the topic of the master thesis, they should submit his/her topic of with supervisor’s consent on an application form to the Specialist of Academic Affairs (Lagle Lõhmus: [email protected])

19th December 2024 - Winter defence round: identical electronic copy of the thesis must be uploaded as a pdf file to university’s library website  https://library.emu.ee/en/studies/instructions-for-sending/link opens in new page Filename should contain name of the author, study programme, study level, graduation year and notion whether the file is thesis’ brief, full text or appendix (samples on the library’s webpage).

21st January 2025 -  opponent’s review is made available to the student.

23rd January 2025 - defence of thesis at the Department of Landscape Architecture or in BBB, beginning at 9:15

20th February 2025 - Deadline for submitting an application (at the supervisor’s discretion) to request the thesis and/or defence is closed to the public.

13th March 2025 - first draft of the structure of the master thesis together with the literature review and the results part should be sent to your supervisor

3rd April 2025 - the 75% draft version of master thesis should be sent to one’s supervisor and to [email protected] 

15th/16th April 2025 - Spring defence round: predefence of master thesis  (compulsory attendance in order to defend the thesis)

9th May 2025 - Spring defence round: all the courses of the curriculum should be passed and registered in ÕIS in order to get permission to participate the master thesis defence in spring
