The Chair of Horticulture at the Estonian University of Life Sciences is the only place in Estonia where one can obtain higher education in horticulture at both the bachelor's and master's levels. The quality of education is confirmed by full accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Research, ensuring that graduates are recognized at the European level and professionally well-prepared.
The chair provides a comprehensive overview of horticultural fields, including vegetable and fruit growing, greenhouse and ornamental horticulture, and the preservation of horticultural crops. The curriculum also addresses scientific and innovative challenges as well as research methods to prepare competitive specialists. Elective courses allow students to expand their knowledge in other fields at the Estonian University of Life Sciences or through exchange programs abroad.
The research within the horticulture curriculum encourages students to deepen their knowledge in the fields of plant cultivation, horticultural technologies, and sustainable production. It focuses on both scientific studies and practical solutions that support the development of horticulture and environmental sustainability.
The Polli Horticultural Research Centre at the Estonian University of Life Sciences offers a unique opportunity to study fruit and berry cultivation as well as plant breeding. Diverse scientific research, ranging from testing new varieties to preserving genetic resources, creates an inspiring environment for innovation and knowledge transfer. Our goal is to promote sustainable horticulture and support the development of fruit growing in Estonia.
