The EGF is one of the most important scientific networks in Europe focusing on grasslands and grazing systems, bringing together researchers and practitioners from more than 20 countries. “Hosting the EGF conference in Estonia offers an excellent opportunity to showcase Estonia’s strengths and further develop international cooperation networks. Considering the central role of grasslands in Estonia’s dairy farming sector, strengthening research and innovation in this field is important both for Estonia and Europe. The conference provides a direct platform for this,” said Evelin Loit-Harro, Head of the Chair of Crop Science and Professor of Sustainable Crop Production at the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

Grassland management plays a key role in Estonia by supporting the feed base for dairy farming, enabling grazing, and preserving ecosystems. Organising this international conference will help strengthen scientific cooperation and highlight the importance of grasslands for both productivity and environmental sustainability.

Hosting the EGF conference in Estonia will significantly increase the visibility of the Estonian University of Life Sciences and Estonia within the European grassland science network. The conference will be organised by the university’s Chair of Crop Science in cooperation with the Estonian Grassland Society and the Rural Knowledge Centre.
