Dr. Yu-Fai Leung

Dr. Yu-Fai Leung is Professor and Director of Graduate Program of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management in the College of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University, USA. His research seeks to advance the science, monitoring, and management of visitor use (recreation, tourism, ecotourism, geotourism) in protected areas from local to global scales, with a primary focus on monitoring and management of visitor-associated impacts on protected area resources. He is also applying geospatial technology and monitoring protocols as education and capacity building tools. He is active in research, education and training programs in several continents. Dr. Leung is a member of the IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas and its Tourism and Protected Areas (TAPAS) and Urban Conservation Strategies Specialist Groups. He served as the Chief Editor of the Tourism and Visitor Management in Protected Areas: Guidelines for Sustainability (IUCN Best Practice Protected Area Guidelines Series No. 27). He is also a founding member of the Recreation Ecology Research Network.
