T9060 Status of fish stocks in Lake Võrtsjärv in 2009 and prognosis

There were estimated stocks of main commercial fishes: eel, pikeperch, pike, bream, perch and changes in abundance of non-commercial fishes in L. Võrtsjärv on the basis of experimental trawl catches and gill net catches. On the basis of tagging – recapture data migration and stocks of silver eel in Lake Võrtsjärv was estimated.

T8107 Loading of biogens and dissolved organic matter (DOM) into Lake Võrtsjärv

According to the prognosis concurrently with global warming the rate of fluctuation in the runoff of rivers is increasing. In order to calculate the exact loading of different matters there is need to do extra analysis. It is not enough to consider only the monitoring data taken once per month. We sampled more frequently than were taken the monitoring samples, especially during the high-water-level time. Our investigation is the bases for prognosis of the P, N, Si, DOM loadings into the second biggest lake of Estonia along different hydrological conditions. The result of our investigation is a data base which concord with the monitoring data from the same sites. We passed the database to the Estonian Environment Information Centre of the Ministry of the Environment in October 2009.

T9071 Study on the fisheries of Estonian small still waters 2009

The project started in 1996 is goaled to survey the state of Estonian still freshwater fisheries for recreational and professional fishing purposes. In 2009, a comparative overview was given for the occurrence of species and fishing options on waters of Obinitsa, Paunküla, Kaiavere, Vagula, Tamula, Saadjärv, Koosa, and Võhandu. Three fishing methods were applied: gill-netting with several net-types, long-lining, and fyke netting. The spawning peculiarities of more important game fish and according implementations in the ‘Fishing Regulations’ were treated (pdf.format, 117 p, 11 Tables, 75 figures, 9 photos).
