Admission to English-language study programs has begun at the Estonian University of Life Sciences

In early February, admission began to four English-language study programs at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. The university offers a 6-year English-language integrated Bachelor's and Master's program in veterinary medicine, while Master's degrees in landscape architecture, environmental management, and adaptation to climate change or multifunctional forestry planning and analysis can be obtained in two years.

According to Ina Järve, the head of the Study Department at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, international students highly value studying at the university. "On one hand, they are satisfied with the content and level of our study programs. After all, the university is very highly ranked in the fields of agriculture and forestry among universities worldwide, holding the 37th position, as shown by last year's QS ranking, which ranked universities by subject. On the other hand, the university's student-friendliness and pleasant community are praised, making studying here a safe and enjoyable experience," said Järve.

Järve mentioned that currently, just over 300 international students (including doctoral students) are studying at the university, constituting about 11 percent of the total student population. This is in addition to just over a hundred international guest students who have come here for a shorter period (e.g., a semester). "Naturally, Finns make up the majority of our international students, for whom Tartu has been a highly valued place to study veterinary medicine for years. However, it is worth noting that Estonian-origin students are also welcome to the university's English-language study programs, as this provides an opportunity to gain international experience in a multicultural society without leaving home," emphasized Ina Järve.

Tuition fees apply to students enrolled in English-language programs, varying by program. Naturally, veterinary medicine is the most expensive due to its significant clinical and practical training component.

Students can also apply for scholarships. For example, for the academic year 2024/2025, two Ukrainian citizens per study program can apply for a scholarship to study on English-language programs. Additional scholarships are available for the environmental management and adaptation to climate change program, which is a joint program with the University of Tartu, and one additional scholarship is intended for an international student in the landscape architecture program.

Admission requirements are described on the Estonian University of Life Sciences website. Citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Georgia, and Turkey can submit their admission documents until 31st of May, while those from outside the European Union can apply until 10th of April (for the veterinary medicine program, until 2nd of May).

Opportunities for studying on the English-language study programs at the Estonian University of Life Sciences will be further introduced in a webinar organized by the Study in Estonia program on February 22.

Admission to the Estonian-language study programs at the Estonian University of Life Sciences will begin on June 3 and last until July 4.
